Green United Summit

On Wednesday 12th February 5 of our PCS Climate Ambassadors attended the Green United Eco summit at the University of Sussex.

All of the Lewes schools shared the actions that they have taken to support environmental action. It was incredibly inspiring to look at and hear about all of the work that they have been doing over the last 5 years to improve their schools and their local environment.

There was also a focus on sea level rise in the Ouse Valley, and an engaging session on the Rights of Nature led by Dr Jo Smallwood who has recently returned from the United Nations COP 16 Convention on Biological Diversity. Before lunch students took part in a lively debate with Emma Montlake from the Environmental Law Foundation.

Taylin, Ellis, Maddison, Maisie and Curtis represented PCS and the Coastal Schools and their contributions provided some thoughtful insights and a strong understanding of the environmental issues that we are facing in the world today.

We returned feeling very proud of the environmental work that we are already doing, but also full of good ideas to share with the rest of the Eco Team after half term.
