Thank you for joining me. In this video I will be outlining all of the expectations for all practical lessons in PE here at PCS. We have really high expectations of our kit here at PCS and all learners must wear the PCS polo, the PCS shorts and bring trainers. We advise that they wear running trainers, preferably with a thick sole for all practical lessons. We also provide parents and guardians with the option to purchase extra kit to keep them warm over the winter term. This includes our PCS mid layer, our PCS raincoat, our PCS football socks and our PCS tech pants.

We also advise students to keep warm during the winter term, to wear base layers. They can wear their own base layers providing that the bottom half base layer is black and shows no logo or any other color, along with the top base layer, it can be red or black and again can show no logo and be all one colour either red or black.

We also have a clear expectation on jewellery. No jewellery is to be worn in any practical lesson, whether they are taking part, taking on the role of a coach or an official, the teacher will expect all jewellery to be removed at the start of every lesson, it will be locked and stored safely in the changing rooms and they will get access back to the change rooms to get changed and put their jewellery back on at the end of the lesson. Please do bear this in mind especially in the half term and over the summer term period, we will expect students, even if it's a recent piercing to remove their jewellery because it is unsafe to keep jewellery in during a practical lesson and therefore jewellery must be removed.

I just want to end by saying to all those year sevens coming up to join us and all our other years return to us in September, we really look forward to teaching you at core PE or in our accreditation V-cert PE, here at PCS and we look forward to seeing you back participating alongside each other in our broad and balanced curriculum.

Thank you.

KS4 Accreditation

Students are able to study the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Health and Fitness in addition to core PE. They will have an extra three hours a week on top of their core PE allocation.

This qualification is designed for learners who want an introduction to health and fitness that includes a vocational and project-based element. The qualification will appeal to learners who wish to pursue a career in the health and fitness sector or progress to further study.

This Level 1/2 qualification is designed and intended for learners who are looking to develop a significant core of knowledge and understanding in health and fitness and be able to apply their learning. Learners will be motivated and challenged by learning through hands-on (practical) experiences and through content (theory) which is concrete and directly related to those experiences.

Learners will use knowledge and practical tools to focus on supporting people with specific health and fitness goals. The study of health and fitness involves understanding the functions of the body systems, understanding the principles of training, and knowing how the body reacts in the short and long term to fitness activities, how to create and apply lifestyle analysis tools and how to create a fitness programme for a person with specific goals. This will enable the learner to focus and apply their study of health and fitness within the sector. Learners will gain a broad understanding and knowledge of working in the Health and Fitness sector.
